How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan makes Simpsons debut

The Simpsons are about to get another dose of comedy royalty. How is that? On the show's upcoming January 16 episode, we are going to see two rather popular (and funny) ladies making an appearance -- Alyson Hannigon ("How I Met Your Mother") and Kristen Wiig ("Saturday Night Live").



According to reports, Hannigan and Wiig are set to play a mother-daughter pair who strike romance into the hearts of both Principal Skinner in Bart -- in many ways, this is a familiar plot with a new sort of twist to it.

Hannigan and Wiig join a crew of past guest stars for this season that include Jon Hamm, "Glee" stars Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, and Amber Riley, and pop singer Katy Perry -- who actually appeared in live-action form.
